Important information about broadband coverage and speed

There are a number of factors that may affect your actual download speeds, regardless of whether you choose wireless broadband or ADSL broadband. The most common are:

1. The site may be overseas (the further the data travels, the longer it will take).
2. You might be downloading the file from a very old or slow web server (the computer that has the file stored).
3. Thousands, maybe even millions, of other people may be downloading the same file as you.
4. Your computer hardware and software may not be set up properly.
5. There may be an unnusually high number of other people using the same network as you, at the same time (i.e. the phone lines or mobile signal towers).

Some other factors that have been known to slow down wireless broadband connections include interference between you and the nearest mobile signal tower, due to buildings, trees, pollution or electrical interference from motors.
